The Ultimate Paradox

"To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Cor 12:7-10

OOOH!
This is my favorite verse.

NOT!!

Well, dear wife, [hug] you have certainly borne out the spirit of this verse. I have learned (and continue to learn) much from you through these times. And while I don't yet wholly embrace this verse as you have been able to (or, learned to do), I do somewhat "get it."

However, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself (if you are) about the weaknesses thing. K? Your life is a beautiful message.

loveya wifey.

Yeah... that verse is a kicker. It carries such a weighted meaning for people who deal with unwanted SSA. What I've witnessed is close to hell on earth... not fitting in with the gay community... not fully embraced in community of faith... Such a thorn. Yet, Grace... you highlighted the fruits that are produced from it... It's so easy to want that without wanting to go down the road it takes to get us there!

Grace and tdub... Thanks for the way you honor each other and bring glory to God. I'm personally thankful for your willingness to share.

Your blog is like a caring friend that speaks to my heart.

Much, much love to you both!

You know what I think? These things are only paradoxes because we don't see God's nature clearly...

God's perfection in our weakness is actually a perfect pair! We must be weak for His perfection to be shown well... Otherwise, we just display our attempts at Godliness, effectively clouding those things of Him that are perfect. Our attempts at being Godly are rarely more than pathetic and cheap imitations. ;-)
