Staying Busy

The blog silence is deafening. Sorry.

I've recently discovered a young person, actually a family of them, who are living in poverty only one block from me. It's one of those situations where things probably could be better, aren't likely to get better, yet aren't quite bad enough to call some sort of hotline. While I can't do much of anything financially, I can provide a place to wash clothes and get clean. So, that's what I've been busying myself with lately.

I can't tell you what it meant today to know that one sweet little 12-yr.-old went to school completely clean and odor-free for the first time in who knows when. AND, she was dressed in a snazzy pirate-girl outfit I'd made her for our dress-up day. She looked as if she felt like a million bucks!

I'll catch up more later.

love and grace,
pam

A lasting memory, and it is worth so much more than money! God bless the Pam's of the world!

This experience has made me reevaluate the way I spend my time, energy, and resources. I've always believed that we go through different seasons in our lives and need to be always on the look-out for ways to be about the Father's business. I'll be writing more about that in my next post. Thanks...as always, to you guys for dropping in and saying "hey"!
:)
much love to all of you!

Sometimes I wonder to myself what exactly Jesus envisioned for His movement long term. What did He expect to happen?

I mean, when you think about Jesus didn't leave a lot of instructions behind. He didn't say "Write all this stuff down that I'm doing and saying. Make sure there's four versions of it. Build my headquarters in Rome. Decentralize sometime around the mid-Sixteenth Century."

He never said "Figure out who I am." or "Come up with a lot of theories about My Mom." or "Convert the gentiles." or "Make a list of Holy Days of Obligation." or "Build a lot of places of worship and feature My Image prominently."

Just about the only instructions he left behind were about how he wanted us to take care of one another. That's when we're living Jesus's vision, I think, when we're taking care of one another.

To believe in Jesus enough to take care of one another, that, I think, is our salvation. Nothing else.

Kurt,
Wanna be a co-blogger here at Willful Grace? I'm gonna copy and paste what you've said to my next post...you may as well just start writing up front yourself! ;)

If I agree to co-blog, will you put up a picture of my cat?

Kurt - this is exactly the discussion my friend, Ray, and I were having today about what Jesus really meant for us to be doing. It's like we were using your post as a script! You are blessed in this new spot, Pam. Keep dwjwd (doing what Jesus would do).

Kurt,
Of COURSE!

"When you do this for the least of them, you are doing this as unto Me."

Yes, they may have fallen through the cracks with a human "hotline" but these folks have encountered someone with a hotline to Heaven. You, Pam!
