Packing and More Packing

The move is underway! At least the packing part. I'm taking a 4th grade potition in a very small town in Oklahoma where much of my extended family lives. When I say very small, and when I say much of my family; if you stood on Main Street and threw a rock, you'd likley strike someone to which I'm related or have been at one time by marriage. I'm assuming, of course, that you're a pretty decent rock thrower. Drew and I are going up this weekend to look for a place to live. I can't say Drew is happy about moving, but, at this point, he's not yelling and screaming and declaring how much he hates me. Anyone who's parented a 13-yr.-old knows that this constitutes a lovely day in their presence. While the town we're moving to is in Oklahoma, it's actually only about a 2.5 hour drive from Granbury. This will make it VERY doable to get the other two boys (#2 and #3) for weekend visits and week long stays during the holidays. I haven't spent any time at all with them this summer and I'm looking forward to having them with me for a visit after I get moved to the new spot.

Sparky and Emma have not yet weighed in with an opinion about the move but the packing has worn them out as you can see from the photos above.

Congratulations!!! I know you were rooting real hard for that job to come through!

The "Very Small Town" (VST?) sounds alot like my dad's hometown at the tip of Northern California. His family has been there for almost 150 years, and you can't walk down the street without passing in front of a home belonging to one of my several cousins.

Oh Pam...seeing all those boxes (and knowing we have a move coming up at the end of the year) is filling me with that mix of excitement and dread that is peculiar to moving house.

I'm praying for more excitement and less dread for you and the boys. And the puppies. =)

I will never move again. If at some point I reach an Oprah level of wealth and celebrity, and it becomes my professional responsibility to live in a big huge house, I'm just going to buy all the houses in my neighborhood and connect them to my house with some kind of walkways, and that way Tony can live in a gigantic celebrity home befitting our station in life without actually having to move.

Now that I think of it, it'll be kind of like living in a Habitrail.

How cool is THAT?!

Good luck on your move! I'm glad you'll be near family and not too far from #2 and #3. It sounds like Drew understands and is trying not to cause problems at least. Good for him.

I have to share that I've discovered that I'm not a large dog person. I'm helping Scott dog-sit his co-worker's two HUGE dogs. I certainly envy your smaller dogs.

Kurt: I love the Habitrail home idea! LOL

Norm!: Pictures! The blogosphere demands pictures!

Pomo: Hey, Oklahoma is where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain!

Congrats Pam! That's great, and hopefully Drew will make a great friend there and will adjust wonderfully.

I love that you took the time to write the accent over the o in decór.

:D

Congrats on the move. I have friends in Oklahoma and we are considering going through there next Christmas, if we do we will have to get together and finally meet :-)

You know, I'm sure Sparky and Emma approve - just think of all the new smells they can sniff!!

Christine! Hi! How are things going in CA? I wish I could be there!

I found the perfect place yesterday for all of us...and yes! I'm sure Sparky and Emma will approve. There's even a dachshund "friend" for them in the fence across the street. I'll post pictures soon.

love and best wishes for a great conference!
